Kawasaki KLX250 Restoration & Repairs – Ignition Wiring, Indicators, Hazards and Engine Knock

Kawasaki KLX250H Restoration & Repairs – Ignition Wiring, Indicators, Hazards and Engine Knock

Welcome to TEKNOFIED!

In this project, I'm working on a 2005 Kawasaki KLX250 motorcycle belonging to a mate of mine.

The bike has a few issues that need sorting out, including damaged ignition wiring, indicators that aren't working properly, missing or damaged parts, and a knocking noise coming from the engine when it's under load.

Rather than simply replacing everything, I'm going to investigate the problems, work out what's causing them, and repair what I can along the way.

I'll also be adding something this bike didn't originally have. Hazard warning lights, operated through the PARK position on the replacement ignition switch.

The hazards are now working using a separate two-pin thermal flasher and two diodes, without interfering with the normal left and right indicators.

This article will document the repairs, electrical modifications, parts used, wiring information and results as the project progresses.

I'll also be making a video for my TEKNOFIED YouTube channel, demonstrating the work. This blog will provide the more detailed information, particularly for anyone interested in understanding or attempting a similar modification.
